I am Kat Bruner James,
and I am running for a four-year term (2020-2023)
on the Ferndale City Council.

I will offer several perspectives on Council, given my broad experience in the community. I moved to Ferndale in 2002 as a recent college graduate. At that time, I was a renter, sharing a house with three other people. In 2006, I got married and became a homeowner, where we initially rented out our spare rooms to meet expenses while I was a student at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Today, we are parents who share our house with our 2-year-old daughter and 4-year-old dog.

My family and I are committed to Ferndale, and I am eager to serve on behalf of Ferndale residents. Over the course of these years, I have coordinated volunteers for a campaign to amend our City Charter to modernize our election system, I served as Chair of the non-profit Citizens for a Fair Ferndale, I was named Citizen of the Year in 2015, and I participated in the 2018 Ferndale Schools Strategic Planning Retreat.

I remain engaged in many other civic and community activities and organizations, and I will bring all of those perspectives to Council. I am seeking your support to maintain a successful campaign.
